A Biochemistry PhD student, studying at Oxford University, has devised a new “product and service” to prevent baldness, which is to be available within 12 months.
Baldness can often play on the minds of middle-aged men and choosing a preventative or responsive hair loss treatment can sometimes seem daunting, due to the number of options available. However, Thomas Whitfield, thinks he may have the answer.
The 27 year-old student is keeping his secret close to his chest until he has a patent for his new formula, which he says will make hair loss “a thing of the past.” The only indication the Kilcady-born entrepreneur will offer, is that the treatment is based on gene therapy.
Whitfield claims his treatment is much cheaper and more effective than existing remedies, "current treatments don't work properly or they are inconvenient or they are simply very, very expensive. We have come up with a solution that's quite easy and much cheaper."
The treatment is currently known as TRX2, with the ‘TR’ taken from the Greek for hair, ‘trichos’ and the X2 representing a person’s second generation of hair.
